WWRE-2009- Wings Wheels Rotors & Expo
 
 

The Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce and the California National Guards Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) will sponsor WWRE 2009, an annual event on Sunday October 25, 2009, from 9 AM to 4 PM.  All activities will take place on the flight line on Los Alamitos Army Airfield (KSLI). 11200 Lexington Drive, Katella at Lexington Dr. (enter at Lexington off of Katella) Los Alamitos, California 90720-5000.  

Los Alamitos Army Airfield is the last remaining military airfield in the greater Los Angeles Orange County areas with the longest runways in The OC. Also, the JFTB is the disaster support area for Southern California. 

On display will be military aircraft, helicopters, radio controlled airplanes, military and public safety equipment, warbirds and many cars. Aircraft flyovers are planned including airplane static displays. 

Wings Wheels & Rotors will have various civilian and public safety helicopters with fire, police and military rotorcraft including the media aircraft seen daily in the skies around Southern California will be on display for all visitors. Along with the airplane s and warbirds are helicopter flights in civilian “choppers” for a small fee and free flights in general aviation airplanes by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagles for youth interested in aviation between 8 and 17 years of age.  

 

The largest event will be a huge car show including custom cars, new autos, motorcycles and hot rods. Awards to be presented for best cars. There will be many events for the family at WWRE. Additionally, there will be food, including breakfast, music, vendors, displays, demonstrations, flybys and other activities on Sunday, 25 October.

A portion of the proceeds to go to the military Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) funds for armed forces personnel on the base, the Veterans Service Center there and the Los Al Area Chamber of Commerce. Vendor space and sponsors opportunities are available. 

Free admission, donations accepted, no smoking, dogs and alcohol permitted.  Open to the public. Picture I.D required for entrance to the JFTB.
